Queenie/Cuinee is Claymore No. 20 of Clare's generation.

EtymologyEdit

"Queenie" is transliteration of the Japanese "Kuini" (クイーニー, prounounced "kwee-nEE").

"Queenie" is a diminutive of "queen," deriving from the Old English "cwen" meaning "woman" or "wife." The name is suggestive of the Claymore character's personality.

AppearanceEdit

Queenie has rather short hair which she tucks behind her ears, allowing the hair to stick out like spike from behind. In the manga she is often depicted with a strict expression on her face. She wears the standard Claymore uniform. Like Ophelia , Cassandra and Irene she has elf ears.

She appeared to be easily angered, accusing Clare of being out to only seek glory when she kills the Yoma alone.

BiographyEdit

First Encounter with ClareEdit

Queenie is first seen with Miria and an unknown Claymore saving a little girl from a Yoma. They head to the town the little girl was from, now aware that the fourth member of their team was there fighting 4 other Yoma herself. When they arrive they see that the fourth member, Clare, has already killed the Yoma. Queenie is angered by this and accuses Clare of starting without them because she wanted the glory. Clare's denial angers Queenie more and she begins to shout at Clare for disobeying orders but Miria stops her. The three then leave Clare alone in the town.

The Northern CampaignEdit

Queenie was selected to take part in the Northern Campaign and was one of the Claymores placed into Miria's team along with Tabitha (#31) and Yuma (#40). She and the rest of Miria's team attack the fish-like Awakened Being in the first battle and are the only team to fight an Awakened Being on their own. She and Tabitha are first to attack and although Queenie doesn't manage to injure him she easily dodges his counter attack with a backflip. He comments on how annoying her "tricky movement" is. Miria seems to kill the Awakened Being fairly easily, killing it just after the other teams finish with their respective opponents. She and Tabitha carried the injured Yuma back to base afterwards.

Ironically, despite holding the highest number in Miria's team save for Miria herself, she was the only Claymore in the team to be killed.

Anime and Manga differencesEdit

• Queenie's conversation with Clare when they first meet does not occur in the anime. Many of Queenie's lines are spoken by Miria instead.
