Etymology[]
"Eliza" is a transliteration of the Japanese "Eriza" (イライザ, pronounced "i-rai-zah").
"Eliza" derives from "Elizebeth," itself deriving from the Greek form of the Hebrew "Elisheva," meaning "my God is an oath" or "my God is abundance." Compare to "Beth."
Appearance[]
Eliza had silver eyes and light blond, choppy hair that fell to her collar bone. Her short bangs were swept slightly to the right side of her face. She wore the standard warrior uniform.
Plot[]
Northern War Arc[]
She participated in the Northern Campaign with 24 other Claymores. She was a member of Jean's team along with Emelia (No. 27), Natalie (No. 37) and Diana (No. 44).
Eliza, like the rest of Jean's team, was defeated by one of the three Awakened Beings during the first battle. The Awakened Being blames their loss on Jean, accusing her of being a terrible leader. Eliza and the rest of Jean's team were saved by the arrival of Veronica's team as back-up.
